Freshman House member Rep Tim Scott will replace Sen. Jim DeMint as the US Senator from South Carolina.
Tim Scott shunned being a member of the Congressional Black Caucus unlike fellow Black Republican Allen West who was a member during the 112th Congress.
Scott will be the 7th African American to serve in the US Senate.
