WASHINGTON DC — THE CAPITOL — Thanks to Greg Nash we have this photo providing us with an image of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Judiciary Committee member Rep. Tammy Baldwin showing the Speaker signing the hate crimes bill before sending it to the White House. Baldwin along with Reps. Scott and Nadler argued against Rep. King and others in a bitterly grinding markup of the hate crimes (H.R. 1913-Conyers/S. 909-Kennedy) bill reported out of House Judiciary. I can count at least three CBCers who should be at (what should be…) a big fat White House bill signing of the Hate Crimes Bill. 1. John Conyers, 2. John Lewis, 3. Bobby Scott and 4. Jim Clyburn. fyi: Charlie Rangel remains out in front of all CBCers who are the primary sponsor of a bill in terms of most bills signed by President Obama.
