After losing 25% of their advertising over the past year: The Washington Post announced it will close all their bureaus outside of Washington on New Year’s Day. New York and Chicago are included. They will focus more on local news and politics. It’s funny because a few of these bureaus were one man shops so “closing” meant getting rid of one person or making them re-locate to Washington. That’s the plan this week. If they just hired a good blogger in each city they would be fine also. Newspapers are done but they don’t know it yet. Thanks Viv.
