#HBCUs: Bernie Sanders Campaign Announces Stops on #HBCU Tour

The Bernie Sanders campaign has announced the stops for their upcoming tour of historically black colleges and universities. Some stops will feature appearances by Dr. Cornel West, including one this Thursday.  Sanders will discuss issues such as justice reform education costs.

Sanders’ website says the following:

Thursday, January 14
7 p.m. HBCU Tour, South Carolina State University, Recital Hall, Barbara A. Vaughan Fine Arts Center, 300 College Street, Orangeburg, South Carolina.  Information for the public: Doors open at 6:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public, but RSVPs are strongly encouraged.

The tour’s stops will include:  Atlanta University Center, Benedict College, Tennessee State University, Alabama State University, Jackson State University, Florida A&M University, Virginia State University, Howard University.

HBCUs have had a tough time over the last seven years.  Policies such as a change in the rules for Parent PLUS loans and the Administration’s idea to provide two years of free community college have been a challenge for HBCU’s.
