PREZ CALLS RANGEL SAGA “VERY TROUBLING.” I wasn’t expecting Pres. Obama to get out pom poms and jump in the air but damn. In an interview with CBS News, President Obama gives Rep. Charlie Rangel zero support. And honey, unless this tape is really tightly edited this tell us a hell of a lot. Not only does President Obama refer to Rep. Rangel, who began his career in Congress when the President was nine, in the past tense — he also implies he should retire. “He’s is at the end of his career, 80 years old…” Pres. Obama reminds us all. We know Rangel endorsed Hillary Clinton over Obama but damn, would it kill the President to simply say something trite yet supportive like, “let’s review the facts as they come out before we jump to judgment….”

After watching the soundbite, one could reach the conclusion you did (as have others in the media). But a hearing//trial in which he was vindicated would also allow him to end his career with dignity. And while no one can deny that at 80 you have more of your career behind you than ahead , “whether end of career means one more term or 4 is also subject to interpretation. I’m just sayin …
Let’s not forget Rangel , in addition to not supporting Obama during the presidential primaries, he also called then Sen. Obama “stupid”. I really don’t blame the president for washing his hands of Rangel. Those charges are pretty serious.
