After watching the soundbite, one could reach the conclusion you did (as have others in the media). But a hearing//trial in which he was vindicated would also allow him to end his career with dignity. Let’s not forget Rangel , in addition to not supporting Obama during the presidential primaries, he also called then Sen. Obama “stupid”. I really don’t blame the president for washing his hands of Rangel. Those charges are pretty serious.
