Reps. Meeks and Waters get loudest applause. Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., received one of the loudest ovations of the evening as members of the CBC were individually introduced on stage at the start of the ceremony. Each year at the dinner the members are announced on stage in order of seniority. The large audience seemed to show support for Waters in the midst of an investigation by the House Ethics Committee and a pending ethics trial. The loudest ovation of the night went to Rep. Kendrick Meek of Florida. He’s young, friendly, popular and running for the Senate and the crowd appeared to show their support. If I had to guess I would say that Del.
