Ethics: Two Black Lawmakers on Trial?

GET READY FOR TWO BLACK LAWMAKERS ON ETHICS TRIAL! Want to hear of a late BREAKING PR disaster for the Congressional Black Caucus? Listen to this one: Rep. Maxine Waters is selecting the “ethics trial” option in an effort to beat the ruling from House Ethics.  The investigation of Maxine Waters centers on the question of rather her husband was a sitting member on the board of a bank who was also doing business with the government, Waters’ office, at the same time.  Did she gain financially from the arrangement? That is the question. The rumor mill is hot with the possibility that the Ethics Committee ruling regarding Waters will happen sometime tonight or over the weekend. This sort of Ethics is trial is completely unprecedented… until now.

One thing is for sure: When Reps. Waters and Rangel were seen talking to each other at a forum on Haiti, then Wednesday in the back of the Speaker’s Lobby and finally last night in the cloak room… that meant that meant something real.  Did Rangel advise Waters to go for the trail option?  If so, two senior members of the Congressional Black Caucus who have had a legislatively prolific 111th Congress, would be on trail at the same time. Note: There are only 16 days left in the 111th Congress. That’s right: 16 days left to the end of the session. Whatever happens has to happen within that time.
