FYI: Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas is fixing to run against Rep Emanuel Cleaver of Missouri for Chair if the Congressionak Black Caucus for the 112TH Congress. One good thing: No matter who wins the next chair will have no fear of reporters. Both are quite press savvy, smart and very direct and blunt. Rev. Cleaver would be the favorite.

We all know that regardless of who is elected, the CBC will FINALLY move forward. The past two years under the current chair have been an abject FAILURE. With a DEMOCRATICALLY CONTROLLED House/Senate/and PRESIDENCY what have been the top CBC accomplishments. Instead of throwing parties, giving themselves awards, and being on the LOBBYIST teat, they should have been advocating for direct jobs programs/stimulus to our urban centers, which by and large are facing multiple crises: from stagnant job growth, insane violence (see 400+ murders in Chicago, B’more, etc), dilapidated housing and schools. These are the true issues worth RALLYING around, instead we get lipservice, and now have squandered an opportunity to pass sizable legislation on behalf of our communities. The best chair would be Shelia Jackson-Lee — we all know she does not play games and will fight and bring voice to our issues in a completely new way, think Cynthia McKinney — although Cleaver would not be an alright choice.
