As reported by AP, a weekly prayer service that was held yesterday included a prayer of support for the Jackson family. Afterwards, Reps. Bobby Rush and Danny Davis spoke about their friend and former colleague Jesse Jackson, Jr.
“He can’t take the pressure,” Rush told reporters. He continued.
Rush said when he and Davis visited with Jackson weeks ago, Jackson broke down in tears several times. Davis and Rush told reporters they don’t want others to see him that way.
“He’s suffering under a tremendous, tremendous toil and chief among that toil is he says he does not want to be an embarrassment to his children, to his family, to the people of the 2nd congressional district … That’s what he is concerned about.”
Rush, Davis and Jesse Jr have shared 15 years in Congress collectively. All three represent parts of Chicago.
Both Rush and David have been supportive of Jackson through his recent trails. They had not called for him to address his situation publicly a other Illinois office holders have.
