Power Shifts: 3 in CBC Move Up on Approps

POST ELECTION POWER SHIFTS. OK so let’s look at how Black lawmakers are doing on the most powerful committee in Congress: House Appropriations.

Let’s face it, chances are that Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. May not be in Congress too much longer. Rumor had it he was bored anyway, now it looks as if federal prosecutors, always full of energy when it comes to Black officeholders, may help him regarding a decision to leave.

That leaves Reps. Chaka Fattah, Sanford Bishop and Barbara Lee on Approps. Below is the exact order of seniority for the 113rd Congress. Approps is so powerful that even being in the minority can’t stop you from having influence over lots of cash.
