July 23: Obama Will Travel to Kenya with a Few Black Caucus Members

A few members of the Congressional Black Caucus will travel to Kenya with President Obama on July 23 to the 28th.  The trip will also include a stop in Ethiopia.  Traveling with the President will be members of Congress, including current Black Caucus Chairman G.K. Butterfield (D-NC) and former CBC Chair Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO).

The trip to Kenya will be his first visit to his father’s homeland since he visited the country in 2006 while a member of the U.S. Senate.  Will it be like JFK visiting Ireland.  When Obama visited Ireland in 2011, there was a tons of fun.  President Obama’s roots include Kenya and Moneygall, Ireland.

Obama has said that, “There’s a little village in Ireland where my great-great-great grandfather came from and I’m looking forward to going there and having a pint.”  The President ended up doing just that.  It will be interesting to see the level of connection the President he has in Kenya and several relatives who live there.
