In 9 Days: CBC Ceremonial Swear In

The ceremonial swearing in of Black members of Congress will be in 9 days at 9 a.m.

CBCF will host a ceremonial swearing-in for the 42 members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC). Rep. Marcia L. Fudge of Ohio will take the gavel as the 23rd Chair of the CBC.

WHEN: January 3, 2013, 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

WHERE: Congressional Auditorium, Capitol Visitor Center, U.S. Capitol Building.

WHY: The ceremonial swearing-in celebrates and honors the new and re-elected members of CBC. This is a time honored tradition in African-American politics to highlight the service of CBC and the contributions that African Americans and people of color have made to our country’s
legislative history. For nearly four decades, CBCF’s stellar internship and fellowshipprograms have paired generations of leaders with African-American members of Congress. In addition, the Foundation has initiated programs to engage Americans in public policy and civic engagement on Capitol Hill and beyond.
