From the Department of Education press shop … “U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will participate in a Black History Month forum sponsored by the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, on Capitol Hill. The topic of the forum is “Investing in Communities of Color.” Secretary Duncan’s panel will address meeting the economic needs of the African American Community. He will discuss the Department’s efforts to support African American students, which include $850 million additional funds for Historically Black Colleges and Universities and K-12 reforms that will benefit poor and minority students. Among those joining the Secretary are Deputy Assistant Secretary of Labor Gerri Fiala; Congressman Emmanuel Cleaver, D-Mo., and chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus; and Congressman Danny Davis, D-Ill.”
