Cummings, Waters Fight GOP But House Votes to End Foreclosure Help

HOUSE GOP PASSES BILLS to END FORECLOSURE HELP. Today the House GOP voted to end foreclosure assistance. There were several emotional points made on the floor by CBC Reps. Elijah Cummings and Maxine Waters.  Several members compared the irony of what’s happening with this issue to how the House voted in favor of bailing banks out to the tune of $700 billion in late 2008.  Many of the same members who voted for the $700 billion bank bailout voted to end programs to assist homeowners with foreclosure today. Rep. Elijah Cummings’ floor speech was one of the most forceful of the debate this morning.
