Conyers ‘Protest Obama on Jobs’ Video Hits 5,000+ Views

CONYERS calls for PROTEST ON WHITE HOUSE ON JOBS.  ”We Want full employment as a matter of public policy,” John Conyers said. When Rep. John Conyers says he has “a couple of things on his mind,” I turned the video recorder on. Last week, at a press conference in the Capitol basement of the Out of Poverty Caucus, in protest of the debt negotiations, Conyers was clear.  He called for a march on the White House in a protest against the President on jobs and against policies favoring the rich.

  1. Please do me a favor… I really enjoy the videos & interviews – but whoever is doing the video recording needs to get a steady hand, and finish the video instead of cutting it off before the end.

  2. As a photographer for the Colorado Democratic Party, I can tell you Tom, that it is hard to hold any camera steady in a packed room, with people bumping you, while shooting up at a stage. And, sometimes batteries fail before we can finish recording, (or any other number of issues). We are lucky Lauren is capturing the video, since nobody else seems to deem the unemployed, newsworthy. Thanks Lauren! <3

As a “born in Michigan” person, I appreciate Congressman John Conyers!! I met Mr. Conyers in 1992 when I went to Washington for the “Save Our Cities!” march organized by the US Conference of Mayors. We were calling for investment of the “peace dividend” in our cities at the end of the Cold War. Of course, Republicans were calling for reducing the deficit, instead of investing in people. They are still focused on dollars instead of people. I’ve heard these arguments for 20 years. It is time to recognize that real security means people with jobs and a healthy society, not the biggest military in the world or the gambling on Wall Street.

I am in absolute accord with Brother John Conyers on this idea of a march on the White House and the president for jobs and against policies favoring the rich. And it there is to be one, please let me and my associates know by calling (615) 494-9056. Because Obama seems to think that he has black folks in his back pocket, but it ain’t so with myself and others that I am associated with all across the nation. And he’s going to fins out come election day 2012, if he doesn’t straighten up his bent back, and take the leadership away from that crowd of whites and Jews that are surrounding him and running the show. He and Valerie Jarrett are the only two blacks among the White House bigwigs. And they only have a few drops. And Eric Holder, another “cream puff,” is the only black heading up one of the 15 major cabinet posts. So, yes, let’s march tomorrow morning. — Rev. George Brooks

How long is my previous comment going to remain in “awaiting moderation” status? And how about forwarding information to me, via email, about whether or not this CREW blog is affiliated with the Congressional Black Caucus in anyway? As well as a mailing address for CREW, so that I can forward some of my newsletters to some of the staff? And if it is associated with the Black caucus, why is Melanie Sloan, a Jew, in charge? Which is a question I will take up with CBC’s Rev. Emanuel Cleaver. — Rev. George Brooks

  6. Cappadonna says:

I support Conyers, but should he be leading the charge against Speaker John Boehner and the Tea Party freakazoids who somehow believe that bridges are fixed by magic and any government spending that doesn’t involve shooting brown people or corporate giveaways is of the Devil?

Rather than your use of code messages above, will you please be kind enough to just simply email me a brief note as to whether or not this Crew of 42 website is affiliated in ANYWAY with the Congressional Black Caucus? Because I’ve been told by a few of my Washington sources that it is, but that you all are attempting to mislead the public as if it is not. And I cannot get a real believable answer from anyone at the CBC office either. Your code message is a bit confusing. So please just take ONE MINUTE and email it to me at wmb71@bellsouth.net. And if it is not, but is an independent site, then why are you focusing exclusively on the Black Caucus all of the time, rather than all politicians, local, state and national? It appears that you all, nor the Black Caucus, are being truthful, but extremely deceptive. But I plan to get to the bottom it this, and make it public. — Rev. George Brooks

  8. Rev Brooks: I’m uncertain as to what your confusion is. At the top of the site are the words A BLOG ON BLACK MEMBERS OF THE 112th CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES of AMERICA. Where does it indicate this is an “official” blog on anything? If you write the words “congressional black caucus” into Google the third link down gives you the very easily found OFFICIAL CBC SITE http://thecongressionalblackcaucus.com/ Do you really think an official gov site would call itself CREWof42? I’m not sure why I need to focus on anything or anyone other than what I wish. If you want to focus on state, local and federal politicians that’s dandy. Start a blog and do it. Frankly, I think focusing on 44 black people serving in the US House is quite enough. Thanks, Lauren

  9. Rev. George Brooks says:

Lauren, you are not in charge of ANYTHING, my dear young lady. There is a Jew woman, Melanie Sloan, and one or two others, plus a few whites also involved with this site, who are bossing you and all of the other “house Negroes” with this website. And this is what steams me, because this is what is happening all over the nation now. Whites, and Jews especially, are busy bossing and influencing the black media, as if blacks have NEVER heard of the first editorial written in the very first edition of Freedom’s Journal back in 1827. Which called for it being time for blacks to plead their own cause, because whites had for too long been speaking for us. So what do they do now? They come in and take over, and hire Negroes like yourself, to write what they tell you to write, and do the same thing with these so-called black TV channels, and radio stations. And I will be exposing this website for all to know about. And don’t be surprise if you look up and see some of us picketing out in front of you all’s door in September, when we come that way to protest the war, and BET. Why don’t you GET YOUR OWN WEBSITE, and leave the plantation young lady, for slavery is suppose to be over. Although there are still plenty of slaves still walking around all over this country. And I’ll see that you get one of my next newsletters, which will have pictures of Melanie and you in it. — Rev. George Brooks of Murfreesboro, TN. via California.

  10. Rev. George Brooks says:

Lauren, did your white Jewish boss assign you the task of verbal-fighting with me, a black man? Why didn’t she speak, herself, rather than order you, a black woman, to take on me, a 73-year-old black retired minister and journalist, who is perhaps old enough to be your grandfather. Using the same of trick that Willie Lynch initiated long years back, it seems. Because my beef is not with you, but with Melanie Sloan of this site, as well as with David Honig, also, a white boy who is president of the Minority Media and Telecommunications Council. Can any of you black folks believe that this is happening in 2011? Are we black folks going forward or backwards? Lauren, you should be running this site, not “dancing to Melanie’s tune.” End of my conversation with you, I hope. But we are now going to add you all to the list for picketing when we come to D.C. and New York. — Rev. George Brooks

Respectfully, the President did say “make me do it”, and that was some time ago to the SCLC! I think that in this day of spin spin spin it is easy to spin something of this nature as an assault on the President rather than what it should be people speaking up for the things that matter to us and against those that we are opposed to. Yes people did vote for those people but why should I shutup if I see where they are wrong. They are not quiet about those that I voted for or me, if I say something they dislike, quite the contrary. Maybe a March for Washington to the Capitol is more appropriate. Lets march for honest discourse and work to eliminate racism, joblessness, homelessness and building a better middle class. Lets march for an equitable tax system. Let’s not argue, but let’s not forget that it is Congress that makes the law!
