Black Unemployment Improves to 15.9% Unemployment Rate Improves to 9.1%

Unemployment rate at 9.1%. Black unemployment improves as 117,000 jobs were added overall. The unemployment rate stayed the same for the highest unemployed category, black males, at 17%. For the first time in months the unemployment rate improves. In June it was 9.2% and it finally went down to 9.1% in July.  The best number of the year so far is 8.8% back in March.  FINALLY the black unemployment rate improves from 16.2% in June to 15.9% in July.  The Bureau of Labor Stats website crashed this morning.  When all the numbers come in I will report them.  The only reason I got to the 15.9% number was because I called in.  Let’s review the overall unemployment rate this year:

January 2011 – 9.0%
February 2011 – 8.9%
March 2011 – 8.8%
April 2011 – 9.0%
May 2011 – 9.1%
June  2011 – 9.2%  blacks: 16.2%
July 2011 – 9.1%  blacks: 15.9%
