Allen West: Women House Members Demand Apology for “Vile” E-Mail

You are the most vile, unprofessional, and despicable member of the US House of Representatives. If you have something to say to me, stop being a coward and say it to my face, otherwise, shut the heck up. — Rep Allen West to Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz

Five members of the House Women’s Caucus demanded Rep. Allen West apologize for sending an e-mail to Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz.  The e-mail called Wasserman-Schultz “vile” and “not a lady.” Reps. Donna Edwards, Jackie Speier, Gwen Moore and Carolyn Maloney joined together in requesting West apologize to Rep. Wasserman-Schultz for an e-mail he sent to her yesterday.  Rep. Maloney called the e-mail “misogynist,” and  “sexist” and told reporters that had West said what was written in the e-mail on the House floor his words would have been “taken down” and stricken from the record.  Rep. Speier claimed that had West had said what was written in the e-mail in an office setting he’d be sued for sexual harassment.

The five lady members told reporters many of their House colleagues were outraged over the incident.  They called on House Speaker Boehner to ask West to apologize but that West should doso on his own.
