Suddenly the Democratic Steering Committee was 60 members strong… Over 12 members participated in today’s packed Democratic steering committee session on gun violence.
The hearing started about three hours after President Obama announced new gun related policy he plans to get through Congress.
Mayor Michael Nutter was a witness. He said “it was outrageous and outside the bounds of human dignity” for the NRA to “attack the daughters of President Obama” in a new ad. Nutter said the “ad had no place in legitimate dialog” on guns.
“We’ve emphasized the rights of guns over the rights of everything else,” said Emily Nottingham, the mother of shooting victim Gabe Zimmerman. Zimmerman was a congressional staffer for Rep. Gabby Giffords.
some audio:
Reps. John Conyers, Mel Watt, Jackson-Lee, Chaka Fattah, Hank Johnson, Bobby Scott, EBJ, Gwen Moore, Joyce Beatty, David Scott and Keith Ellison attended.
Chief Scott Knight, police chief in Chaska, Minn., also testified.

Gun Laws. Wow what a Tragedy. These Gun Laws should have been Passed years and years ago When Our Black Children have been Slaughter in the Streets by Racist White Policemen and Calling it Justifiable Homicide such as in the TRAYVON MARTIN CASE, and the Most recent similar Trayvon Martin case such as in the Davis case of the Stand Your Ground Law. These are Just Two incidents. There are Hundreds and Hundreds more such as the Incident in Chicago. This Past Summer with all the Murders in Chicago. Right in the Presidents back Yard and Nothing was ever mentioned. Let alone this Year Is just Beginning and they’ve had close to alomost One Hundred Murders already; if Not, One Hundred. Where was the Big Commotion about Gun Laws then? Even the Guy George Zimmerman that actually Killed TRAVYON MARTIN Is actually Walking around with his Freedom. Where Is the Justice for Our Children?
Not to mention, the Incarceration rate;especially right here in Clayton County, Georgia. The Clayton County Judicial System Is Putting Our Young Black Youth on Probation, Charging them HIGH Jail Bond Fees at the Clayton County Detention Center in Jonesboro, Georgia actually charging Our Black Youth like $25,000.00 and or $18,000.oo for a Jail bond fee when Our Black Youth are Trying to actually get their High School Education and Finish their High School Diploma.
Then the Clayton County Police come to People’s home like All times of the Night Terriorizing Citizens in their Homes . And Putting (Unwarranted)Warrants Out on Our Black Youth such as (Felony) Burglary Charges.
We Need the Justice Department to come down here and Investigate.
Not to mention, we even have a Twice Elected Sheriff VICTOR HILL who has Over “32″ (Felony) Counts against him alone more than the Clayton County Inmates in Jail.
Not to mention, the Crooked and Corrupted Clayton County District Attorney TRACY GRAHAM LAWSON who has Ruined Many Young Black Youth Lives. She’s Racist and Corrupted. Where Is the Executive Order on that one?
Where Is the Justice Department? They Need to get on their Jobs and do something about the Miscarriage of Justice in Georgia; and Many other States with the same Problem such as New York, Florida, Chicago, Los Angeles and All across the Country, let alone the STOP and FRISK Search. We Need Justice Now; Immediately!!!!
Oh, Oh wait. The Jail Bonding Companies. Centrally located Right around the Clayton County Detention Center located at 9157 Tara Boulevard, Jonesboro, Georgia 30236. For instance, Free At Last Bonding, Anytime Bonding, ABC Bonding, AAA Term Bonding. Financially Bail Bonding Companies have Ripped the Citizens of Georgia off by trying to Save their Love ones. For instancem, they’ve put their Homes up for Collateral which is unfortunately one of the reason Why it is such a High Rate of Foreclosures in this State alone. Georgia’s High Incarceration rate.
Not to mention, the Large Clayton County Expansion Juvenile Detention Center in Jonesboro, Georgia 30236. This is Just an Example of How Our Tax Dollars are being Used. We Need Executive Orders Issued on this Miscarriage of Justice; immediately.
