Mark Tillman Sworn-In as 34th President of Alpha Phi Alpha

ΑΦΑ – Alpha Phi Alpha, the oldest Black Greek-lettered fraternity founded in 1906, installed a new General President into power today in Detroit, Mich.

Mark S. Tillman will become the fraternity’s 34th person to be the President after controversial departure of the President before him Herman “Skip” Mason. Mason became the first APA President to be removed from office in the fraternity’s 105 year history after an alleged financial impropriety arose. In July, a Judge denied Mason’s request to be reinstated as President of the fraternity after he was removed as President with five month left on his term as President.

Noteworthy members of APA include Martin Luther King, Jr., Jesse Owens, Thurgood Marshall, Edward Brooke and Marc Morial. CBC members who are members of APA include Chaka Fattah, Al Green, Danny Davis, Greg Meeks, Charlie Rangel, David Scott and Emanuel Cleaver #APhiA
