Rep. Elijah Cummings put out a cryptic statement on the Parent PLUS loan situation. It’s cryptic… until the last sentence:
“I applaud Secretary Arne Duncan and the Department of Education for committing to review the changes it recently made on how to award Parent PLUS loans. With the cost of attaining quality higher education ever increasing, this decision could significantly impact the numbers of first-generation and minority students who pursue a college education. I hope Secretary Duncan will move with all deliberateness to reestablish policies that support greater access to education, and consequently, the American dream.”
That last sentence implies Duncan hasn’t done that already. Â So we have the White House saying they’ve taken big action, and everyone else is underwhelmed.
