Cory Booker Joins Tim Scott on Oct. 31

On Thursday, October 31, Cory Booker will be sworn in to the U.S. Senate.  Booker will join Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) as the second African American in the Senate.  He is the first African American to be elected to the United States Senate since Barack Obama.  It will be interesting to see which committees Booker is assigned to.

It will also be interesting to see f Booker applies the same personal touch to his role as U.S. Senate as he did as Mayor of Newark, NJ.  Will he tweet people directly on issues important to them and answer their questions directly? Time will tell.

Booker defeated Republican Steve Lonegan on an Oct. 16 to fill the seat of the late-Sen. Frank Lautenberg.
