14 CBCers Greet Pres Obama During State of the Union Stroll

It may not count as the annual CBC meeting with the President, but on his brief handshake filled walk down the center isle of the House Chamber, President Obama greeted 14 members of the CBC.  They were Reps. Karen Bass, Yvette Clarke, Marcia Fudge, Frederica Wilson, Al Green, Sanford Bishop, Danny Davis, Laura Richardson, Terri Sewell, Corrine Brown, G.K. Butterfield, Hansen Clarke, Sheila Jackson Lee and Elijah Cummings.  An exclusive comprehensive photo investigation reveals that several of the interactions were brief but quite jovial.  No one on the Democratic side wants to say it out loud but, yes, this could be the last time President Obama takes the State of the Union stroll.  Of course, not a whole lot was said during the walk — there’s no time and it was noisy — but it is a good opportunity for a cute photo and a brief friendly hello.  The President did ask Rep. Corrine Brown not to get her lipstick on him and the two crack up (below) which resulted in an amusing series of pictures.

Reps. Karen Bass, Marcia Fudge and Laura Richardson were ready right at the door. GK Butterfield had what looked like was a substantive few seconds with the President.  Reps. Jackson Lee and Cummings didn’t get much eye contact as the President made a turn towards the Supreme Court.  These brief moments may be the most face time some members of Congress get with the President all year.  You have to take what you can get and talk fast.
