#BlackLivesMatter Activist Asks Hillary for Apology for Mass Incarceration at Fundraiser

“When will you apologize for mass incarceration” a Black Lives Matter protester asked former Secretary of State and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton last night at a fundraiser.

“I am not a super predator,” the activist added.

The $500 a plate event was last night in Charleston, South Carolina. Activist Ashley Williams stood up as Clinton spoke with a sign reading “we have to bring them to heel.”

“We did this because we wanted to make sure that black people are paying attention to her record, and we want to know what Hillary we are getting” protester Williams told the Huffington Post.  The secret service removed her from the event.

The U.S. continues to lead the world in incarceration with 2.3 million people behind bars. The 1994 Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act, also knows commonly as the Clinton Crime Bill, was the largest crime related legislation in U.S. history.  The legislation included the “three strikes your out” penalty, 60 new death penalties, and over $9 billion in money for prisons.

Much of what was legislated in the Clinton Crime bill is being rolled back in state and federal justice reform legislation today.
